This beautiful fabric is a reedition of the “Gift to Love” Jouy fabric, designed by Jean-Baptiste Huet in 1799 and printed at the same time at the Oberkampf Manufactury in Jouy. Typical of the character prints of the time, there are idealised country scenes, a flute player surrounded by dancing children, a cherub on a pedestal receiving offerings, a mother presenting her child, a shepherd with his sheep. (Offrande Amour translates to Love Offering.) This beautiful red version is printed at roughly 10% of the size of the original design by Jean-Baptiste Huet.
